Not sure whether to go for the VI-RSR Essential Kit or Pro Kit? We break down exactly what's included in each, who they're designed for, and how to choose the right one for your build.
Two Kits, One Wheel — What's the Difference?
The VI-RSR is our flagship DIY sim racing steering wheel with an integrated 5" display. It's designed for sim racers who want a premium, functional wheel they've built themselves with full control over every component.
But when you land on the product page, you'll see two options: the Essential Kit and the Pro Kit. The price difference is significant (€349 vs €899), and so is what you get. This guide breaks it all down so you can make the right call for your build.
What Both Kits Include
Regardless of which kit you choose, you get the core of the VI-RSR build:
- Aluminum structural parts
- PCBs (the electronics that power everything)
- Key mechanical components
- Digital assembly guide (step-by-step manual)
- Full Bill of Materials (BOM)
Note: Neither kit includes the 5" VoCore display — this needs to be sourced separately from VoCore.io. Tools are also not included.
Essential Kit — €349
What's Included
- Aluminum structural parts(Such as Front plate with moulded grips and rear QR plate)
- PCBs and key electronic components(encoders)
- STL files for all 3D-printed plastic parts
- Digital assembly guide + BOM
- Hard to source parts(magnets and glass)
- Stickers
What You Source Yourself
- All 3D printed plastic parts (you print them or order from a print service such as JLCPCB)
- Wires and fasteners
- Coiled cable and connectors(It is highly recommended that you purchase this item from us. It is easy to make a mistake with this one and end up with an unstable wheel. We don't include it here as some people may opt for a pass-through solution)
- 5" VoCore display
Who It's For
The Essential Kit is designed for experienced makers and builders who have access to a 3D printer (or know how to order prints), can source parts easily, and enjoy the entire DIY process. It's also a cheaper option, and you can still achieve great results!
Important: If you decide to start with the Essential Kit and later want to add the missing aluminum parts individually, it will cost more than if you had started with the Pro Kit. Plan ahead.
Pro Kit — €899
What's Included
- Everything in the Essential Kit
- Rear CNC shell (adds structural strength and looks much better)
- All CNC anodized encoders and knobs (including funky, thumb and front encoders).
- CNC front button guards
- CNC shifter, clutch bodies and levers.
- All 3D-printed plastic parts (pre-printed, ready to assemble)
- All screws and hardware
- Full wiring harness
What You Source Yourself
- 5" VoCore display
Who It's For
The Pro Kit is the complete package. There's no need for printing, sourcing wiring or hunting for the right screws. You receive everything you need to assemble the wheel; just follow the manual step by step. It's ideal for builders who want to focus on the assembly process rather than sourcing parts, or for those new to DIY sim racing builds, or those who want a premium build.

Which One Should You Choose?
Use this as your decision guide:
- "I have a 3D printer and love sourcing parts" → Essential Kit is your pick. You'll save money and enjoy the full maker experience.
- "I want to focus on assembly, not sourcing" → Go Pro. Everything arrives ready to put together.
- "I'm new to DIY sim racing builds" → Pro Kit, no question. The reduced complexity means you can focus on learning the assembly without sourcing headaches.
- "I'm on a tight budget but have the skills" → Essential Kit — but factor in the cost of printing or ordering your 3D parts before committing.
